‘Glass’ by MØ is my new jam.
The one advantage of long, late night walks home is that the dewy air makes my beard look, and feel, incredible. (And I normally get to see some foxes and hedgehogs and the like, not tonight though)
‘Belly of the Beast’ by Gazelle Twin is my new jam.
‘Now I Need You’ by Donna Summer is my new jam.
‘BRAIN’ by BANKS is my new jam.
#januaryrecordaday 31st: For my final choice I thought I’d go with the sole 2014 record in my collection (I hope to rectify that very shortly) - Mogwai’s Rave Tapes. I absolutely adored their first two albums, then they gradually lost me over the years. However, last year’s Les Revenants soundtrack was a massive “return to form” and this is almost as good. Kind of wish that I could’ve justified splashing out on the full box set (which was a bit stupidly priced) though, as that tape version would’ve gone very nicely with my cassette of Come On Die Young.
#januaryrecordaday 30th - a pre-80s record: Not liking ABBA would be a bit of a deal-breaker in my book, so here’s a copy of Arrival that I recently found in a local charity shop.
#januaryrecordaday 29th - first record I bought: I really can’t remember what the first record I bought was (might be the Arab Strap 7” that I’ve given a cameo appearance here) but it could be Chicks 2nd (and final) EP Little Monkeys with Lots of Money. Throughout my teenage years my early patronage of a band normally spelled their imminent doom (which is a shame as Chicks were pretty good - if anyone could hook me up with a copy of their album, that weirdly only got a Thai release about a decade later, it’d be much appreciated).
